Carpooling and Vanpooling 
Carpooling and Vanpooling are both great ways to save money, reduce commuting stress, and help your community cut down on congestion. 

What is a Carpool? 
When two or more people share a ride to a common or nearby destination, that's a carpool. A carpooling arrangement is both simple to set up and very flexible. The number of passengers may vary, drivers and vehicles may rotate, and expenses may or may not be shared. Your carpool may operate every day or only when it's convenient. 

What is a Vanpool? 
A vanpool is a group of five to 15 people who share their commute. The vanpool travels from home (or a prearranged meeting place) to work, school, or other destinations. Vanpooling with a MetroVanpool can cost a quarter of what you would pay to drive alone! MetroVanpool helps make vanpooling even more economical with an incentive program that pays for 50% of the basic monthly van lease cost, not including fuel. Passengers split the remaining costs.

Monthly costs per rider, including fuel, are $60 to $95 for a 30-mile round trip, compared to $266 a month to drive alone. By reducing the cost of maintenance on their own vehicles, and splitting the high cost of gasoline with other riders, vanpoolers can save hundreds of dollars each year.
