More than than 30 officers and Special Olympic athletes from around the region gathered at Milwaukie Riverfront Park on Friday, July 13th to carry the Special Olympics torch to Oregon City, West Linn, and finally, Lake Oswego. Check out the photo gallery!
Councilor Dave Hedges and Representative Carolyn Tomei welcomed the volunteers and participants to Milwaukie Riverfront Park before the runners took off. Milwaukie Police Chief Bob Jordan organized the route and brought new energy to the event, and Island Station resident Cindy Miguel helped organize sponsorships.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run raises money for uniforms, equipment, transportation, lodging, facilities and, of course, competitions for the athletes.
