Down a full-time Planning Director and Senior Planner, the Planning Department is scaling back some services until those positions are filled.
Planners will be available for one-on-one consultations at the Johnson Creek Boulevard (JCB) facility, located at 6101 SE Johnson Creek Blvd., from 9 a.m. to noon, and from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, effective Monday, June 18, 2012. Previous hours were from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. Customers typically consult with planners regarding zoning, subdividing properties, and building structures or additions on their properties.
Those visiting the JCB office when planners are not available at the front desk are encouraged to leave a Planning Request Form so a staff member can promptly make contact and follow up. Customers can also call the Planner on Duty line at 503-786-7630 or email planning@ci.milwaukie.or.us at any time. The Planning Department strives for a 24-hour response time on all requests.
Furthermore, planners will begin holding one preapplication meeting from 10 to 11 a.m. every Thursday, instead of holding two weekly conferences, beginning the week of Monday, June 18, 2012. With the recent uptick in the number of development requests, this change may push some preapplication meetings further out than has been typical.
The recruitment for the Planning Director and Senior Planner positions is open through June 29, 2012. These service modifications will be effective until both positions are filled.
