Planning Projects Overview

City of Milwaukie Oregon Official Website

The Planning Department is continuously involved with projects that adress the long-term evolution of Milwaukie, improving livability now, and improvements to development regulations.  More information about each project is available by clicking on the project title.

Current Projects:

Residential Development Standards Update Project

This project will review all policies that shape new and expanded single and multi-family development, with the goal of creating a better set of standards that do not inadvertently discourage investment but result in a higher level of quality when projects are built.

Annexation Assistance Program

To encourage and assist individual properties with annexing into Milwaukie, the City has established the Annexation Assistance Program.

Improving Bicycling in Milwaukie

The Planning department prepares plans and coordinates with others to help make bicycling an effective way of getting around Milwaukie.

Completed Projects:

Bikeway Signage Plan (2009)

This plan provides the City with a comprehensive guide to developing and implementing a bicycle wayfinding system that will enhance existing and proposed cycling routes. For more information about bicyling, please visit our Bicycling in Milwaukie page.

Amendments to the Off-Street Parking Code (2010)

The City of Milwaukie recently revised its off-street parking regulations.

Land Use and Development Review Code Tune-Up Project (2011)

This project reorganized and revised the Zoning Code to put adopted City-wide plans to work for a better city.

Natural Resources Overlay Project (2012)

Although the City already has strong protections in place to preserve the quality of water in the community’s streams and wetland areas, the City recently broadened those protections to include sensitive wildlife habitat and thereby comply with Metro’s Title 13, the Nature in Neighborhoods initiative.
