Milwaukie Neighborhoods Bring Music to Your Ears!

Several of Milwaukie’s Neighborhood District Associations have free outdoor concert series scheduled this summer! Bring a blanket and join the fun. Bring a few dollars for concessions or in case you want to purchase a CD from the band!

Lunchtime concerts (12:00 noon) at Scott Park sponsored by the Historic Milwaukie NDAScott Park is located behind the Ledding Library at 2300 SE Harrison Street:

July 1st: Ellen Whyte, Glenn Holstrom Duo - Blues and More
July 8th: Pete Ford Band - Country Plus
July 15th: Sky in the Road - Pure, Fun, Folk
July 22nd: Scott White, Ray Davis - Cool Blue Jazz
July 29th: Kevin Selfe & the Tornadoes - High Energy Blues
August 5th: Kinzell & Hyde - American Roots and Blues
August 12th: The Touchables - 60’s Favorites  - Today's concert "The Touchables" (60's favorites) has been rescheduled to Wednesday, September 2, 12-1 in the amphitheatre. They have too much equipment that a) would be damaged by water and b) wouldn't fit inside the Library due to space constraints. But the concerts will continue next week with "Everyday People." See you then!

Wednesday evening concerts, 7:00pm, in August at Ball-Michel Park sponsored by the Lewelling NDABall-Michel Park is located at 9781 SE Stanley Street:

August 5th: Terry Robb: Considered one of the top acoustic blues guitarists on the West Coast. Robb is that rare talent, a musician’s musician and an enormously popular performer.

August 12th: Global FM: This five-piece cover band plays a wide variety of classic rock favorites with a style and flavor all their own.

August 19th: Norman Sylvester: There’s no need to travel to Louisiana for your next dose of the blues. Just track down the Northwest Boogie Cat, Norman Sylvester. The Norman Sylvester Band has shared the stage with BB King, Buddy Guy, James Cotton, Junior Wells, Otis Clay, Tower of Power and many more National Blues Stars.

August 26th: The Stolen Sweets (Early start @ 6:30.) perform vocal jazz arrangements inspired by New Orleans favorites, The Boswell Sisters, one of the hottest girl groups of the 1930’s. The Sweets deliver a unique brand of vintage acoustic jazz, dishing up abundant doses of coy stage antics and sideways glances as they play.

Thursday evening concerts, 7:00pm, in August at Ardenwald Park sponsored by the Ardenwald-Johnson Creek NDAArdenwald Park is located at 3600 SE Roswell Street:

August 6th: Dr. Jazz and the Interns with Nurse Ethel: A local Portland Dixieland band with usually at least 8 core players. Many of the tunes are public domain which means they would have to be older than about 1922!

August 13th: The Dents: Female vocals combining rock, country, and blues!

August 20th: Too Wet to Plow: Too Wet To Plow captures the brooding, unrepentant passion of the Mississippi blues.

August 27th: Ida Viper: Draws on the roots of American music from bluegrass and swing to jazz tunes from the 20's and 30's. Mark Petteys (5-string banjo and guitar), Brian Oberlin (mandolin) and Russ Baker (standup bass) bring high-energy improvisational arrangements to their live performances.
