The Friends of the Ledding Library set their spending priorities for the coming year at their annual “Wish List” meeting on Aug. 16, 2011.
Among the list was funding the First Saturday Music Series, the cultural pass program, and materials for the Teen and Adult Summer Reading Programs.
The Friends are made up of a group of volunteers who hold a number of fundraisers throughout the year to raise money to support the Ledding Library. The Friends raise money through their annual book sale, plant sale, and by selling books and materials at the Farmers’ Market and at the Pond House Book Store.
Those interested in helping the Friends can call Volunteer Coordinator Nikki Hoff at (503) 704-5758. (They are currently searching for a Plant Sale coordinator for next year’s Plant Sale.)
Library Director Joe Sandfort says the work the Friends do is absolutely critical to making the Library all that it is.
“We couldn’t do any of our programs if it weren’t for the Friends,” Joe said. “Maybe a couple reading programs a year, but that’s all.”
