The Milwaukie Poetry Series

The Milwaukie Poetry Series

It is our mission to make poetry more accessible to all members of the community.

We all have our own unique voices and discover them by sharing with family, friends, in small groups or in settings like the Milwaukie Poetry Series at the Ledding Library Pond House. Reading poetry and bringing people together to hear the spoken word supports and develops community. Paulann Petersen’s November 14, 2007 inaugural reading marked the beginning of two seasons of auspicious evenings. The third season began on September 9, 2009. For me this was a dream come true. The response has been exceptional and rewarding from the start. In addition to the readings, there have also been workshops, open mike readings, youth events, and summer poetry picnics. Poetry is the life of a community; it helps us write our story, which is at the heart of this wonderful enterprise. Browse through our video archive to hear some of the best poets in the Pacific Northwest reading from their works.  Below you will find links to poet bios, videos of the readings, and a poem from each reader.

Best wishes,

Tom Hogan, Project Director
