The Fifth Season of the Milwaukie Poetry Series kicks off with a reading by Jessica Lamb on Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2011, at 7 p.m. in the Milwaukie Pond House.
Winner of a Hopwood Award from the University of Michigan, Jessica Lamb’s poems have appeared in numerous journals, including Poetry, The Southern Review, and Willow Springs. Lamb’s reading will be the first in the 10 month series that extends through June 2012.
Poetry Series Coordinator Tom Hogan is excited about the quality of this year’s series.
"We have another outstanding lineup this season,” Hogan explained. “More than half of the poets have been finalists for the Oregon Book Award in Poetry at some time and all have won numerous awards and accolades. With the remarkable support from the City and our patrons, Milwaukie continues to become a wonderful place for poetry."
