In an effort to stimulate development in Milwaukie’s downtown, City Council has instituted a short-term economic development grant program to help offset public area requirement costs.
The program makes $20,000 available to downtown property owners to help pay for streetscape elements that new development sometimes requires, such as trees, street furniture, sidewalk improvements and ornamental lighting.
The program was initially set to close on July 1, 2011, or when all of the money was allocated. It was extended by City Council until July 1,2012, or until the remaining funds are allocated. The funds are available on a first come, first served basis.
