The City is celebrating the completion of the First Phase of Milwaukie Riverfront Park, the construction of Klein Point Overlook, at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sat., Dec. 1, 2012 at 10 a.m. at the north end of Milwaukie Riverfront Park.
“So many people can be proud of this,” City of Milwaukie Parks and Sustainability Director JoAnn Herrigel said. “This marks the first step in the Park’s completion, and I think when people see the work that’s been done, and become more familiar with what lies ahead, the excitement for this project is only going to multiply.”
All are invited to take part in the celebration, and those driving are encouraged to park in the downtown parking lots or along Main Street and cross to the Riverfront on Harrison, Monroe or Washington Streets. Hot beverages and treats will be provided compliments of our Downtown Milwaukie businesses, and a short ceremony with the Mayor of Milwaukie, Jeremy Ferguson, and other regional officials will take place shortly after 10 a.m.
Phase I work included the re-contouring the northern portion of the Park and building a trail from the northeast corner of the property to the Klein Point Plaza that overlooks Johnson Creek. The effort was funded with a $190,000 grant from Metro.
