Community Development Overview

The Community Development Department is responsible for delivering services that improve the physical assets and features of the City.  The CD Department provides the executive and administrative functions for the departments most directly involved with this work, including Planning, Engineering, Building, and the Public Works departments.

The Community Development Department works to generate development in Milwaukie consistent with adopted City plans, policies, and aspirations.  To this end, Department staff work with City Council, the neighborhoods, and City advisory bodies to identify and create programs, funding opportunities, development plans and vision documents to inspire and guide the City toward its desired future.

The Department works closely with other City departments and regional partners like TriMet, Metro, and neighboring jurisdictions to effectively carry out its responsibilities.
