Study examining passenger rail options that could lead to more, faster, trains coming through town

City of Milwaukie Oregon Official Website

A study is underway looking at modifying passenger rail service in the Eugene-Portland cooridor. Some of the options under review would lead to more, faster, trains coming through Milwaukie.

The Oregon Department of Transportation study is determining: 1) an alignment for passenger rail (which could be the existing line Amtrak runs on, or another line), 2) where stations should generally be located, and 3) level of service, which means how often and how quickly the train will be running.

ODOT is hosting an online Open House for those wishing to learn more about the study and to collect public comment. For more information visit http://www.oregonpassengerrail.org/.
